Based in Glasgow, Scottish musician and producer Selkie creates voice-led ambient pop, blending poetic songwriting and electric guitar with atmospheric vocal sound design and flickers of trip-hop-inspired beats.

The project grew from a return to music during a period when speaking and breathing felt fragile, with songwriting becoming a way to reconnect with voice, body and the surrounding world.

Released independently in August 2026, debut EP inWaves brings together six songs exploring distance, renewal and the gradual return of energy and connection. The Skinny described it as “six gorgeous tracks that ebb and flow, where space is just as important as the instrumentation itself”, while Indie Boulevard called it “an accomplished debut EP”, highlighting its “exceptional production” and “distinctive vocal identity”. The EP and its singles have received support from BBC Introducing Scotland, BBC Radio Scotland and BBC Radio nan Gàidheal.

Selkie has performed internationally in Japan, Mexico, the UK, Chile and Germany, with appearances at Solas Festival and Aberdeen Music Week in 2026.
